Making Taffy!

Cooking class is always fun! For our middle school girls (and Nora) who don't mind getting a little messy, creative and working as a team. That is unless they are playing "Chopped" and then it is all about the prize. Today was taffy pulling time! Cooking teaches Math, Science and in this case, alittle physics. What a great class! Future candy makers at BCA. (Photos on Facebook)

The NC State Fair Trip!

We have been doing it every year as long as I can remember and the kids love learning outside the classroom! We saw animals and learned about the judging process for everything from Cows, goats, pigs and Llama's to fresh and canned produce, works of art and handmade quilts. We learned about many opportunities offered by the Forest Service in our area, Police officers and many local churches were on hand as well. We visited the dairy and learned how cheese was made and if you attend the fair this year I recommend checking out the Farmer's Market presentation. Such an amazing day and our kids had lunch and the afternoon for fun. (Photos posted on Facebook page)
